Socio-economic impact monitoring

Study “Economic Analysis study for GRASSSERVICE project: “Monitoring of socio-economic impacts of alternative use of biomass in Sigulda and Ludza municipalities”¬†analyses the socio-economic impacts of the project on the development of pilot areas and on project stakeholders (1st part and 2nd part, in Latvian).

 

When evaluating the potential impact of the project activities on the economic diversification and employment opportunities, the following was analysed: the indicators characterizing the collaboration of entrepreneurs in Sigulda un Ludza municipalities; indicators characterizing the maintenance of grasslands and possibilities to generate revenue; indicators characterizing the possibilities to develop entrepreneurship.

When evaluating the potential impact of project activities on well-being of population, the following was analysed: indicators characterizing the income level and satisfaction with the environment for living in the pilot areas; indicators characterizing the social activity, engagement in the project and dissemination of knowledge.
When evaluating the potential impact of project activities on public awareness about the value of landscape, the following was analysed: indicators characterizing the availability of rural tourism services; indicators characterizing public awareness about natural diversity; indicators characterizing the effect of the landscape factor on evaluation of real estate market value.
The quantitative and qualitative information has been used for the evaluation: statistical data, survey data performed as part of the project; expert interviews; project activity reports and progress reports.
